It’s been a while since I posted photos so I wanted to get everyone caught up on how things are shaping up on my new martial arts school in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Here is a small sample of some recent photos that show how things are shaping up with the new paint, tile, carpet, desk, wood work, and more.
As you can see, I went for a different look than most traditional martial arts schools. 99% of the ones I’ve been in all look the same… white walls, dull carpet, country flags, red and blue puzzle mats, etc. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.
My take on it is different. I want to create an experience that IS different. As I only teach adults, I wanted to create an environment that matched my target market. I picked earth tone colors that were warm and inviting yet still gave off some energy. This doesn’t look like a typical martial arts school that teaches kids.
This integration between my marketing and my studio design is an important element that will help make my martial arts school stand out.
What do you think so far?

This is really coming along! Seems much smoother than what I went through with my new school this past summer. I wish you the best of luck with the the build-out. I had the hardest time working with the city in getting a permit, than being the contractor and hiring different trade workers… that wasn’t fun, especially if something went wrong. I can’t complain now, as I’m nearing 40 students and I’ve only been open since August 23rd. But it looks like that you’ve got everything under control here! Looks good.

Javier,
Thank you for the note. So far things have been pretty smooth and so I can’t complain too much. We did all of the work ourselves and had students with trade skills so that made things go pretty smoothly.
Also, I’m glad to hear your martial arts school is doing well. Keep up the good work!
