Who is Keith Hafner?

Keith Hafner is a 7th dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is an instructor, business owner, author, and marketer.

Hafner owns and operates Keith Hafner’s Karate in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. With over 175 active black belts, he teaches over 800 students in his 8,000 sq. ft. basement training facility. Out of 800 students, 400 are between four to nine years old. 200 are teens and 200 are adults.

Keith Hafner offers a regular schedule of seminars, in-house tournaments, clinics and workshops in addition to pro shop sales and upsells to ensure his business is profitable. His uses the Education Funding Company and offers 12 month contracts.

As for marketing, Hafner primarily uses television commercials, newspaper ads, the Internet, direct mail and referral marketing to help fill his karate dojo.

Keith Hafner’s Karate Training History

Hafner began taking Tae Kwon Do in 1973 under Grandmaster Edward B. Sell. After attending college, Hafner worked at Master Sells Tae Kwon Do dojo and eventually bought it from him in 1979; when Master Sell decided to move his family to Florida. At 22 years of age, Hafner bought the school with approximately 75 students.

Hafner said he struggled over the years and plateaued at 200 students because he was getting in his own way. With the help of Educational Funding Company and a 5 year success plan, he was able to break through and get up to 800 students. It wasn’t an easy road for him to overcome.

Now, Keith Hafner has modified the original Chun Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do system he was taught and includes elements of Ju Jitsu and Kenpo into his curriculum. He focuses on three fundamentals in his program:

• Physical Fitness
• Character Development
