Why You Should Comment Often On This Blog

Unlike a traditional static brochure website, a blog allows you to contribute your ideas in the form of a comment that end up being added at the bottom of a post. It’s like reading a book and being able to insert you thoughts directly into the next edition. In essence, your contributions become part of the story.

Comments allow you to connect with others like you. It provides a venue for you to give your $0.02 and allows you to join the conversation. You can agree. Disagree. Call bullshit. Whatever.

How to Comment On This Blog

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of this page. Stop when you get to “Leave Your Comment Here!”
  2. Enter your name.
  3. Enter your email.
  4. Enter your URL (domain.com).
  5. Enter your comment into the large text box.
  6. Click “submit” and you’re done!

Leaving comments allows you to build credibility. If you’re a blogger on a related subject, it can give you more “street cred” and helps you build your authority on the subject.

Tips for writing good comments on (this and other) blogs:

  1. Write something intelligent. Don’t just say “I agree. Nice post.” State why .
  2. Ask a good question. Need clarification? Ask away.
  3. Link over to other resources. If you have a link to another site that relates, point others to it.
  4. Stay on topic. Keep the conversion moving forward.
  5. Add to the conversation. Don’t just be a parrot.
  6. Only write as much as you need to get your point across. No one likes a pointless windbag.
  7. If you don’t have anything useful to contribute, don’t comment on that post. Find another.

If that’s not enough reason to join the conversation, there is a also another very important reason you should comment – search engine optimization. By commenting, you get a free link back to your site.

Getting a link this way is significant because search engines like Google count how many good quality links you have pointing to your site. The more you have, the better your site will do in the search engines.

In addition, commenting can also help get people over to your blog or website and can help add to your growing audience of readers.

I provide many places for links: 1) at the bottom of the post as well is 2) in the right hand column of each page. Each instance links people over to the commenter’s website. You should start contributing so your name and website address start appearing there.

My advice: Start commenting below and join the conversation (and get a free link while you’re at it)!

Do you agree or disagree? Have another idea or opinion? Leave a quick little comment on this post and join the conversation. I really want to know what you think and look forward to reading and approving your comment so long as you're truly trying to add value. NOTE: I approve all comments before publishing them; usually within 24 hours. If you're just trying to hawk your martial arts related websites, services or products in the form of a comment, you won't be getting any free advertising from this website.
